The UN Global Compact is the world’s largest voluntary corporate citizenship initiative , NGO's and economy representatives with over 4000 members in 85 countries around the world. It brings together companies committed to advancing their corporate social responsibility practices with other organizations from public and civil society sectors, academia and agencies of the UN.
The Global Compact initiative serves as a platform for more effective communication between the different sectors, for advancing policy dialogues, for learning and knowledge exchange in the field of corporate citizenship and CSR, and for promotion of partnerships between business and organizations from the public sector and civil society (NGOs).
Member organizations, which participate in the initiative through national GC Networks, join the initiative by formally committing to promote universal principles of corporate citizenship in the areas of human rights, labor rights, safeguarding of the environment and combating corruption within their business operations and relationships with their internal and external stakeholders.
